The City of Torrance has created a webpage to accept monetary donations for a variety of city services and programs. The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are delighted to announce that they are once again able to accept donations of books, magazines, DVDs and CDs. Please leave a message, and a volunteer will return your call as soon as possible. Receipts are provided for individuals who wish to claim a deduction for tax filing.įor questions regarding donation of materials or book sales, please contact the Friends of the Library at (310) 781-7595. There is also a large bin right inside the entrance door at the Civic Center Library where you may place smaller donations. The dock is located in the driveway between between the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library and the Victor Benstead Plunge. Please call us at 31 to have a volunteer bring in your donation. Large donations may be dropped off at the loading dock of the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library on Monday from 9:00 a.m. ![]() Discover Books works with libraries to purchase and remove unwanted books. Your account is paid the 1st and 10th of the month. The company then attempts to resell your books. Their software controls what they will purchase. Please be advised that once items are donated, the items become the property of the Library and/or the Friends - there are no restrictions upon how and where the materials are used. A used book company that selectively purchases the books that you post online. At this time, the Friends will recycle magazines, newspapers and encyclopedias they will techno-trash audio-cassettes and video cassettes. Materials are evaluated for inclusion in the collection, and items not added to the collection are given to the Friends of the Torrance Library for their book sales. Some collect used books, some accept money to buy new books for prisons, others are looking for volunteers. The best thing is, we don’t just have one drop off point, we have hundreds, all across the country Every Street Library works as one. How to donate your books to prisons: Contact one of these organizations, and they’ll tell you what you need to do. All library locations accept donations of books, DVDs, audiobook CDs and music CDs. If you’d like to donate some of your books to Street Library, you just need to drop them off at your closest Street Library, then they’ll be ready for anyone to read.
